Frequently Asked Questions
What kind of therapy modalities do you use in sessions with clients?
I use various therapy styles depending on what you need and what your goals are. I draw on elements from Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Alderian Therapy (Individual Psychology), Somatic Processing techniques, and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). I work with you to determine the best ways to help you as I believe you are the expert of you, and I know how to apply psychology to help you.
What are your fees?

The cost of counselling varies depending on whether or not you have insurance and the type of insurance you have. Always call your Human Resources and ask if you have an Employee Assistance Program. If so, ask if it covers a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC), how much it covers per year, if it is a calendar year or fiscal year, and what the maximum is that they cover per session. This will give you a good idea of your coverage.

Initial Private appointments with Chasidy are 75 minutes and cost $260. Once you are signed up on the Jane app, forms for the fisrt session will be available to you. This information helps me to understand you as a unique person and helps to inform treatment (it also saves time and money). Subsequent appointments are 50 minutes and are $180.
There are a limited number of sliding scale spots held for people requiring financial assistance (i.e., sliding scale). The way the sliding scale works is that you determine what it is that you can afford based on your income and you slide the amount you pay as your circumstances change. The rate is decided at the first counselling session when, after hearing more of your story and needs, I can give you more of an idea about the frequency of visits that you may require. From there, you will be able to determine an amount that can work within your means at this time. We will revisit this periodically to see if circumstances have changed for you.

What happens in the first session?
After we introduce ourselves, I will go over the consent forms you completed. I will then ask you to tell me a bit about what has brought you into seeking counselling and we will discuss how I can help you.
I know a lot about counselling and strategies to overcome challenges but you are the expert of you. We will work together to find a plan that you are comfortable with and we will go from there. You are in the drivers seat and we can go as quickly or slowly as you would like. I am a firm believer that the client knows best and welcome clients to share their experience of the sessions on an ongoing basis.
Whether or not it would be helpful to do a full assessment to determine comorbidities of the presenting problem can be done and is recommended so that the complete clinical picture can be seen. The formal assessment takes 2-3 sessions depending on the complexity of the clients challenges. It is up to the client to decide if this would be helpful. Screening questions are within the initial Client Form that you complete prior to the first session.
Note: For an additional fee, a letter providing clinical impressions can be generated for documentation and will be sent to you to give to other healthcare providers. If a formal diagnosis is wanted or needed after the assessment is completed, Dr. Antonio Ocana, GP, will review the collected information and write a letter with confirmation of diagnoses (if warranted). Written documentation of the diagnoses will cost approximately $65-$150. To learn about the comprehensive assessments, please click the button below.
